100 Years and Counting
Walk through the Living Museum, talk to local crafts-people and artisans, have a coffee, vote for your favorite salt block sculpture and scarecrow...
Don't forget to visit the displays at both schools, they are spectacular example of what the students can do!
Every year the Fair Committee combs through the entry categories, looking for ways to improve the Fair. Our most exciting new addition is Aerial Photography - so warm up those drones!

Fair Entry Hints and Tips
(or... how to not annoy the judges)
Use safety pins, not straight pins to attach tags to fabric or yarn projects. Staple or tape tags securely to projects.
Wash and trim horticulture projects according to instruction in the Fair Book. Horticulture guideline books are available for reference at the Sundre and Bergen Farmer's Markets and the Library.
Make sure projects are clean and free from pet hair.
Canning must not be opened, the judge has to test the seal. Labels need to be on the jar, not the lid.
Print your information legibly and be sure you have the right Entry Number on your tags.
Fill out the registration sheet and tags before you come. Registration can be chaotic. Judging starts as soon as registration ends, late arrivals won't be entered.
Seniors may enter both senior and adult categories, but will have to pay per entry in the adult categories.
Students can enter in grades above, but not adult.
Each person can only enter one project per category. Fair Officials may move entries to another category that they deem appropriate or disqualify entries that don't comply.

Val Beattie Memorial Award
We, as a community, lost this incredible lady in December of 2011. Because of her great community involvement and all that Val did for the Sundre and District Ag Society over the years, the committee has put up a memorial award in her name.
Val was the main organizer of the Sundre Light Horse, working with the youth and many horse lovers in our area. She was also very active in the Curling Club for many years, helping organize the curling season with square draws, bonspiels and helping to start the junior curling club. There again- teaching the youth!
With the Fair, Val helped look after the livestock and horse classes. Standing in the sun, rain, or even snow as ring master and even a judge on occasion. She was always here - helping to set up, clean up, recording - just wherever she was needed. For a few year, she was the Fair Chairperson.
For many years Val attended the monthly Ag Society meetings, sometimes representing all three groups that she was passionate about - Light Horse, Curling and the Sundre School and Adult Fair.
Our community is a better place today because of the efforts of Val Beattie.
